“You haven’t seen any of this.”
Last month Black Panther star Chadwick Bozeman died at the age of 43 after being diagnosed with colon cancer.
Since then, his stars have honored his memory by sharing stories of how it was to work with him.
In a new interview with Zora this week, Viola Davis talked about working with Chadwick on his latest film, Netflix Ma Rainey’s black bottom.
“He was extremely tired,” said the Oscar winner, referring to Chadwick. “But there are a lot of tired people in business, especially people in his position.”
“Looking back, I noticed that all the wonderful people he surrounded himself with always prayed and meditated on him, and I thought that was part of what he demanded. [how he] created that sacred space. I didn’t know they were just trying to infuse him with life and energy. “
“He would just fall asleep standing up, but boy, when did that camera ride? You didn’t see any of it.”
“He wasn’t chasing green, he wasn’t chasing money, he was just chasing work,” Viola continued. “He wanted to let go of the ego and, almost insisting, leave Chadwick Bozeman at the door and leave it. Black Panther-earning a billion dollars at the door. “
This only confirms what we already know – Chadwick was incredibly talented and pure-hearted. He will be sad. RIP 💔.
