Veteran reiscovers the love of sports with the college wheelchair basketball team



Growing up, Alex Nguyen always played sports. After he graduated from high school, he joined the U.S. Marines Just before returning from his third tour of duty, he was seriously injured by a roadside bomb. Nguyen ended up losing his right leg down the knee. "When I first got hurt, I did not know what sports to play," he said.Then he found wheelchair basketball. "I happened to go with one of my buddies to watch it, and after I saw how physical it got … I was just like," Oh man, maybe I want to give this a try, '' he said.He now plays for the wheelchair basketball team at the University of Nebraska in Omaha, where he's earning a psychology degree.Watch the video above to learn more about Alex's story.
