We know from previous trailers that the second season Umbrella Academy sends the Hargreaves brothers and sisters to the 1960s, where they must unite to save the Apocalypse from a repeat. But a new look at this season’s opening scene shows that the Apocalypse is coming sooner rather than later.
In this clip from the first episode on November 25, 1963, five drops come out of a swirling vortex, only to find the flames in downtown Dallas, the Soviet tanks storming the city, and, of course, his siblings in the middle of it all. As with all the iconic action in the show, an unexpected selection of music begins to play: “My Way”; by Frank Sinatra.
Based on Gerard Wayne’s comic (so that Gerard Way), Umbrella Academy follows six power siblings raised by an eccentric and ruling father who reunited after his death. The first season ended at the end of the world, and the brothers and sisters jumped through a whirlwind of time that apparently threw them all off in the 1960s.
The second season of Russia Umbrella Academy drops on Netflix on July 31st.
