UFC 243 Results, Highlights: Israel Adesanya Claims Middleweight Crown with Robert Wittaker's Cruel TKO

Israel Adesan is the new king at 185 pounds. Last Styler vowed to claim the middleweight title, stopping Robert Whittaker in the second round of their main UFC 243 bout in Melbourne, Australia. Adesan used his versatile skill set to kill a dragon and take the title, using his flair for drama all over.

When Adesany danced to the Octagon during a sophisticated choreographic entry, fans were left wondering whether they saw the shades of former boxing prince Nazem Hamed or a recap of Michael Pereira's recent unsuccessful performance. Shortly before the second round ended, Whittaker was left on the canvas and Adesan remained the only true king of the division.

Wittaker (20-5), struggling only for the second time since winning the UFC 21

3 Championship in July 2017, tried to pressure Adesan (18-0), but the Last Stylist defense kept the undefeated 30-year-old from trouble. In the final second of Round 1 Adesan broke Whittaker and dropped him to the canvas. If the horn had not been heard, the battle would most likely have ended there.

Instead, Whittaker made it difficult to go into Round 2 without retreating after nearly completed moments before. Adesan continued to use tactical and defensive stunts to avoid Wittaker's shots before joining with his right hand and a subsequent left hook, which once again lowered Wittaker. This time, with no horn to save him, Whittaker was finished, and Adesan remained standing as the best middleweight in the world.

The victory was the culmination of the path of Adesania to the top of the fighting game.

"And remember everything as an elephant," said Adesany. "As I said before, I was in nosebleeds. Now I have made his nose bleed. "

After his victory, Adesan quickly called his next shot. Adesan called out the undefeated Paulo Costa – including by throwing a pro-flanging sprout on the Brazilian star
