The tax refund is $ 11.5 billion for our forecast: UBS

In the spring, tax refunds tend to give the economy a boost as money is invested and people either pay debts, or go and spend, so economists and analysts pay close attention to the size of these surprises.

from UBS believes that net payments to households are now below the forecast of economists, a deficit of $ 11.5 billion from the $ 20 billion of additional cash that economists had expected compared with last year.

The latest IRS records processed 27 million returns and the average level of compensation is $ 1949, which is 8.7% less compared to last year.

This is still relative at the beginning of the recovery season, but UBS has noted that if it continues, it will have a "significant effect" on its Q1 forecast. Economists, with indecisiveness, continue to predict an additional $ 20 billion coming to households compared with last year until the end of May.

HIDE CAPTION

SHO Again, UBS repeated its income tax anthra to the tax season of 2019: "No one, not us, not other economists, not the US government, knows if there will be a greater or lesser reimbursement than in past years"

Many economists from banks such as UBS and Merrill Lynch, expected that tax refunds would be particularly high, taking into account changes in the tax code. For example, Merrill Lynch expects reimbursement to be 26% more this year.

Unfortunately, the changes in the IRS retention tables were not sufficiently aggressive and the reimbursement was reduced. While detention errors are a major factor in the fall in returns, changes in the state and local tax deductions have caused many unpleasant surprises for families. Nevertheless, the total amount of taxes paid by seven should be lower due to changes in the law, as recently noted by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa).
