Launching a PlayStation website can often distort our perspective when it comes to the wider gaming industry. But from where we sit, it seems that there is already an impetus for the PlayStation 5 – something that the Xbox Series X is not completely outside the hardcore circles. And new research, according to MCV, brings some statistical support to this theory.
A “wide” poll presented by the pop culture agency Experience12 shows that the future Sony console will win the battle for the popularity of the next generation by some distance. More than 3,000 people were tested during the MCM Comic Con online event in late June, and 84% of attendees said they were more worried about the PS5 for the Xbox Series X.
Data is not based on massive sample size, but it still makes reading interesting and may be a microcosm of the bigger picture. Probably a bigger eyebrow raise is that only 37 percent of people said they plan to buy a new generation console at launch later this year.
It is also worth noting that most of these participants said that the PS4 is their favorite platform of the current generation. 59% swear by Sony, while only 16% swear by Xbox One, 14% by PC, and 8% by Nintendo Switch. A lot of these people will stick to the PlayStation, it seems.
