Owners will have access to a secure webcam channel so they can look at the car whenever they want. If they want to drive a car, Lamborghini will arrange transportation to almost any treadmill in the world, and the owner will be able to ride it. Lamborghini will also provide a professional race car driver to provide training in how to get maximum speed and enjoy its supercar running on the V12. During the year, the company will hold several special events so that Essenza SCV12 owners can gather and enjoy their cars as a group.
Only 40 cars will be produced. Customers have already signed contracts for most of them, but some remain available, said Lamborghini chief engineer Maurizio Reggiani.
“This car is like a special passport to the most exclusive world of Lamborghini,” Regiani said.
According to Lamborghini, the Essenza SCV12 has the most powerful V12 the company has ever produced. The 6.3-liter engine has a “natural atmosphere”, meaning it has no turbochargers or superchargers, mechanical devices that force air into the engine to increase power. Despite this, the company will produce more than 818 horsepower, the company said. Reggiani said such mechanical air compressors would not deliver the sound and performance that customers expect from Lamborghini.
The SCV12 has an air scoop that has a supercharger-like effect at high speeds. The forward scoop supplies air directly to the engine, so when the car travels faster, air is pushed into the engine at higher and higher pressures, which provides more power.
The Essenza SCV12 is a rear-wheel drive unlike most Lamborghinis, which have all-wheel drive. It has a new six-speed gearbox with steering wheel switches that will be used in other future Lamborghini cars. In order to make the car as light and compact as possible, the transmission is built into the structure of the car, the rear suspension SCV12 is attached directly to the gearbox.
SCV12 is not designed to comply with worldwide road safety regulations, but it has been designed to comply with FIA regulations. The International Federation of International Buildings (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) oversees various car races around the world,, including Formula 1 and the 24-hour Le Mans World Endurance Championship.
Like a real race car, the SCV12 is designed in such a way that any of the three main sections that make up the body can be quickly replaced during a pit stop. Although the car can be painted in any color desired by the customer, Lamborghini makes it available in a special paint scheme inspired by racing, including the sponsor’s logos. The rectangular steering wheel of the car with the built-in display screen is modeled on steering wheels of Formula 1 cars.
“SC” in “SCV12” means Squadra Corse, or “racing team” in Italian,, which is also the name of the Lamborghini motorsport department, founded in 2014. Ferruccio Lamborghini, who founded the company in 1963, is known for not wanting his company to compete, preferring Lamborghini to focus on making cars exclusively for road use, unlike its neighbor Ferrari. Ferruccio Lamborghini sold his name company in 1972, and today, owned by Volkswagen, Lamborghini cars compete in a variety of car racing sports, including Le Mans and the Super Trofeo, a racing series designed specifically for Lamborghini Huracáns.
Squadra Corse Lamborghini will take care of the cars and transport them to the track and help the owners learn to drive them. In essence, SCV12 owners will behave as if they are professional racing drivers, unless they are not competing. Lamborghini has scheduled five track events a year for the first three years for SCV12 owners, one of which will come at no extra cost. Owners will charge for any of the other four events, as well as any additional track visits they wish to arrange.
This new Lamborghini ownership experience is similar to the Corse Cliente XX Ferrari program. In the Ferrari program, which began with the limited release of the Ferrari FXX in 2005, owners of special vehicles that run only on tracks can participate in driving and testing sessions with Ferrari engineers. These cars are also used to test technologies that may appear in more affordable Ferrari models in the future, as well as in the new Lamborghini transmission.
