Google announced this on Thursdayin an app to show you live information about whether a place is crowded or empty. For example, if you plan to go to a grocery store, you will be able to see how many people are actually there.
This update appears in response to the coronavirus pandemic to help people know what to expect when traveling to a public place. Google says it has expanded this feature to include more open spaces, such as beaches and parks, and important places such as grocery stores, gas stations, laundries and pharmacies.
When this feature becomes available, all you need to do is open the Maps app on your Android or iPhone ($ 699 on Amazon) or go to Google Maps in your browser and navigate the map until you find where you want to go. Employment information will appear on the map, so you don’t need to look for a specific place to see how crowded it is. It will say something like “Not busy”, “Busier than usual”, or “Just as busy”. Google says the new Maps feature will be available in the coming weeks.
