Tianwen-1

, China’s first mission to Mars, launched on July 23, took pictures of the Earth and Moon, according to the Chinese National Space Agency (CNSA) on Tuesday.

Using an optical navigation sensor, the probe imaged the Earth and the Moon at a distance of 1.2 million kilometers on Monday, during a flight control operation by the Beijing Aerospace Command and Control Center in close collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Space Technology.

The black and white image depicts the Earth and the Moon in the shape of a crescent moon, which accompanies each other in the vast universe.

The probe escaped the gravitational influence of the Earth and entered the orbit of interplanetary transmission, flying more than 1.5 million kilometers from the planet.

Today, the Mars probe is in good working order, with a normal energy balance and working conditions, said CNSA, adding that measurements, monitoring and tracking on the ground are stable, and flight control and data acquisition are in order.
