The Amazon calls the blessing of the Socialists

Given months of complaints from progressive policy makers who control local politics in New York, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos suddenly abolished plans to open a new corporate headquarters retail chain in Queens.

Amazon spent more than a year hunting for the location of its new headquarters, swating cities across the country to drop over them and make funny promises, seeking to get 50,000 Amazon jobs. The tech giant eventually stopped splitting his new headquarters between New York and Crystal City, Virginia.

Nobody was such a voice in an attempt to force a corporate giant to go, as a socialist superstar of Alexander Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. She undermined the "creep". And, in a sense, she took the very side that we had. But we argued on behalf of taxpayers throughout the state of New York that were held hostage so that Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bil de Blasio, both democrats, could show themselves as cameras.

Ocacio-Cortes, on the other hand, opposed the economic development of the Queens region, which borders on its congressional district. Together with other comrades, such as state senator Mike Janariss, D-Queens, she attacked Amazon for bringing her too many jobs, potentially creating higher standards of living in the area and possibly also increasing housing costs.

It is surprising that direct beneficiaries of corporate welfare complain. But this is normal, there are 1

00 cities out there ready to welcome Amazon.

"Although surveys show that 70% of New Yorkers support our plans and investments," Amazon explained in a statement on Thursday, "a number of government and local politicians have made it clear that they are opposed to our presence."

Naturally, Okacio-Cortez and his friends took a festive circle on Twitter and with the press to catch. But they mostly reveal the financial mistakes they are facing in their thinking. Okacio-Cortez, for example, told to the press that if New York is ready to "give $ 3 billion for this deal," these investments can be used to hire teachers or fix the subway.

Except that tax credits are not returned. Losing Amazon only saves New York about $ 325 million in cash grants for Amazon. The rest of the stimulus package consists of tax savings that Amazon does not understand, the money he would not have to pay if he created the store and paid around $ 10 billion in taxes over the next two decades.

A general package of contracts for Amazon as unfair, as it was for other companies and hardworking, less wealthy taxpayers living in the state and not benefiting from the deal, would still give New York a net increase in tax revenues that could be spent on the list of progressive desires. For socialists who want higher wages and more tax revenues for their "green dreams," the Amazon deal could be attractive. It could also be a political supporter of the crowd, since more than 25,000 New Yorkers would receive an average wage employment of over $ 150,000.

However, in the end, the termination of this agreement is a victory for all. The Socialists get to keep the poverty of their neighborhoods. New York taxpayers should not pay Jeff Bezos excessive amounts of money to do business in their state.

Amazon, after studying her socialist lessons, may also benefit if, instead of looking for specialist favors, she seeks to create jobs in low-tax countries with the right to work and friendly-like a fair business -Climate for everyone.
