Score “Flights against Astros”: “Tampa” is traveling to the “World Series” because the historic request for the return of Houston does not meet

The 2004 Red Sox can drink champagne. They are still the only team in MLB history to return with a 3-0 deficit in the best of seven series. The Tampa Bay Flight won the American League pennant by defeating the Houston Astros in Game 7 of the ALCS on Saturday night (TB 4, HOU 2). Tampa led the series with a score of 3: 0, but “Astros” forced the Game with 7 victories in 4, 5 and 6 games.

Charlie Morton closed his former team in Game 7, keeping the Astros unbeaten after 5 2/3 innings before giving way to the bullpen. Home runs by Randy Arozarena and Mike Zunino gave Tampa an early pillow that they could feed the rest of the way. Astros brought the prospect of continuing to the plate in the eighth inning, but in the end it was too little, too late.

Now Astros have seen the end of their season in soulful fashion in game 7 over the years. Last season, the Nationals made a late return to win Game 7 of the World Series. This season, Houston̵

7;s attempt to return from a deficit in the 3-0 series failed.

Here’s a takeaway from winning Game 7 in Flights.

Arozarena returned home again

Randy Arozarena – Atlas. His teammates inflict little help on his image, so he just keeps sowing huge little things. Arozarena opened the scoring in Game 7 with two home runs in the first inning. It was his seventh home run in 14 games this postseason.

Homer came out on fastball over the plate, and it’s like amazing teams are still throwing Arozarena heaters. According to YES researcher James Smith, Arozaren is 10 on 20 with three and five homers against fast balls this season (0, 500 average and 1,350 percent). This means that he is 11 on 32 with three doubles and two homers against everything else (.344 and .625). It’s still great! But not as big as his performances against fast balls. Arozarena’s seven home runs are the rookie’s biggest in a single season, breaking his tie with former Ray Evan Longoria (2008). Only three players have ever hit more homers in one season:

  1. Barry Bonds, 2002 Giants: 8 HR
  2. Carlos Beltran, 2004 Astros: 8 HR
  3. Nelson Cruz, 2011 Rangers: 8 HR
  4. Several have been associated with 7 HR, including Arozarena

In addition, Arozarena now has 21 hits in the postseason, linking him with Julia Gurriel (2017), the second most popular rookie in one season. Derek Jeter received 22 hits as a rookie in the 1996 post-season. Arozarena went 8 on 28 (.286) with four home runs in the series.

Morton dominated his former team

For the first time in MLB history, two players who were teammates in one “win-take all” game faced each other as opposing starters in another “take all” game. Charlie Morton and Lance McCullers Jr. faced the Yankees in Game 7 of ALCS 2017 and then faced each other in Game 7 of ALCS 2020. Morton is just the sixth pitcher to ever face his former team in a game to win all season. List:

  • Charlie Morton, Flight: 2020 ALCS v. Astros
  • CC Sabathia, Yankees: 2017 ALDS v Cleveland
  • Roger Clemens, Yankees: 2003 ALCS v. Red Sox
  • Pete Vuckovich, brewers: 1982 World Series against the Cardinals
  • Jerry Royce, Dodgers: 1981 NLDS vs. Astros
  • Lew Burdette, Braves: World Series 1957 and 1958 against the Yankees

Morton pushed against his former teammates in Game 7. His fast ball averaged 95.3 mph, his highest average speed at the start of last year’s wild card game, and his inning dance was excellent: 11 , 12, 7 13, 6, 17. He was dominant and effective, and at some point he dropped 14 straight Astros. Morton has allowed no more than one run in each of the last five starting seasons, the second longest run in history (Kurt Schilling has had six in a row).

Houston never got anything that went against the righteous. Morton was already the only pitcher in baseball history to win three games that hosted all winners of the season (2017 ALCS Game 7, 2017 World Series Game 7 and 2019 AL Wild Wild Card). Now he has the fourth victory in the game “winner” at his own expense.

head shot

On the other hand, McCullers passed a double home run to Arozareni and a solo homer who passed the second secret, Mike Zunino. These were the only three runs he allowed, but he needed 75 pitches to get 11 outs, and didn’t make four innings. Houston’s bullpen worked hard in Games 4-6, and Jose Urquidi passed the insurance run on the sixth inning victim.

Cash was quickly hooked again

In Game 6, Race manager Kevin Cash pulled out starter Blake Snell with his score at 82 in the fourth half, and Snell was not happy. “It’s just disappointing. Give me a shot. I want to be the guy who takes the team deep into the ball,” Snell said later.

The bullpen continued to blow lead. Quick hooks and a bull are what the Rays do, and Cash sticks to the game plan in Game 7. Even when Morton runs and his number of steps reaches 66, Cash went to his bullpen in the sixth inning. Michael Brantley was on a plate, presenting a tying run after a walk and an inner single. Unlike Game 6, a quick hook worked in Game 7. Nick Anderson, who allowed a run in each of the previous three outings, replaced Morton and received a land ball ending from Brantley. In the eighth, “Astros” pushed a couple of runs against Anderson and Pete Fairbanks, but otherwise did not allow the violation of Houston.

In two games that hosted all of this season’s winners (ALDS Game 5 and ALCS Game 7), Tampa’s pitchers carried out three powerful attacks by Yankee and Astros to three runs and 10 hits in 18 innings. A very good way to win the knockout game, ie. Now Reishi has won 63 games in a row, leading by seven innings – the longest active series in baseball.

The rays go to the World Series

For the second time in the history of the franchise. They reached the World Series in 2008, but lost to the Phillies, so they are still looking for their first championship. Tampa will take over the winner of the game on Sunday evening 7 between the Brave and the Dodgers. Game 1 of the World Series is scheduled for Tuesday night at the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Reishi has not yet announced its plans to duck, although Tyler Glasnov is lining up for the first game with an extra day off. He will probably get the ball on Tuesday.
