OtterBox has released the first third-party iPhone 12 cases that officially support Apple’s new MagSafe accessory system, and today the company debuted the Figura, Aneu and Symmetry Series Plus cases for new phones.
According to OtterBox, the company is “an exclusive third-party service provider for the implementation of the advanced MagSafe system” – and it sounds like it will be the only official MagSafe business outside of your own Apple that you can get, at least for now.
Figura series cases are the simplest – $ 49.95, offering a basic plastic case with colorful designs in watercolor style. The Aneu cases (also $ 49.95) add captured rubber edges and textured material to the rest of the case. Both of these models are available for the iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max from the Apple and OtterBox websites.
The Symmetry Series Plus cases, which are sold only on the OtterBox website and cost $ 59.95, add a “silver-based supplement that permanently blocks germ growth” and Drop Plus protection from OtterBox, which the company claims is rated “three times more drops as a military standard. ”
OtterBox prices are more or less identical to Apple’s own cases, which cost $ 49, so you don’t really save money by resorting to third-party options. But at least there’s a little more variety besides Apple’s silicone and clear plastic cases.
All three models of OtterBox cases are compatible with the Apple MagSafe standard, which means that they should be easy to attach to your phone and support Apple’s MagSafe wireless chargers, even if the case is attached.
