Gov. Mike Parson has repeatedly refused to require masks to be worn in the state, although the state health department and federal and international health officials recommend masks.
Government officials have tried to report the data consistently, changing the reporting method and reviewing past figures when new information arrives.
Missouri officials say 1,431 people were hospitalized as of Friday, 30 fewer than Thursday. At least 63% of intensive care beds are in different regions, with the highest rate of 88% of intensive care beds in the northwest corner of the state.
Locally, the St. Louis Pandemic Task Force also noted an increase in the seven-day moving average number of hospitalizations and patients known or suspected of COVID-19 in area hospitals. According to them, there were 82 patients in the intensive care units, and 40 patients in the ventilators. A total of 7,035 patients were discharged from hospitals.
Cases in Illinois are on the rise
On Saturday, the state of Illinois reported 339,803 cases and 9,192 deaths, which is 3,629 more cases and 27 deaths compared to the day before.
Officials said 2,073 patients were in Illinois hospitals, 422 in intensive care units and 165 in ventilators.
