Windows 10 has a serious update problem which worsens . But now Microsoft has taken decisive action in the most welcome and unexpected ways …

Microsoft gives all Windows 10 users control over the updates

by Steve Cotexkey

In the new blog entitled "Improving the experience of upgrading Windows 10 management, quality and transparency," Microsoft Corporate Vice President Mike Fortin announced that Windows 10 will undo its most hated feature [19659005]: forcing the user to upgrade to the throat.

"We are pleased to announce significant changes in the Windows upgrade process, changes aimed at improving the experience, improving control and improving the quality of Windows updates," Forlan explained. "We have heard a clear response that the process of upgrading Windows itself can be disruptive, in particular that Windows users need more control over when an update is available."

What this means in practice, starting with Windows 10 v1903 (May), users of all versions of Windows will be able to decide when to upgrade. This includes the ability to delay updating more than a month – it is important if the word breaks that a new update causes problems (which is depressantly common ).

"We will send a notification that the update is available and recommended based on our data, but will mainly initiate the update from the user," – says Fortin. "Now, all customers will be able to choose whether they want to update their devices when they check for updates or pause updates for up to 35 days."

Even better, this applies to both minor updates as well as major upgrade features. In the latter case, users will be notified that the update includes the ability to download or delay its installation. This is a huge news, given that the update is known to permanently delete personal information .

Windows 10 update from Microsoft has long been a minefield

Problems? Only one.

Fortin says that computers that have reached the end of service will not be able to delay updates because "machine support [older] and monthly updates are critical to device security and health of ecosystems." " This is a patch because poor upgrades affect performance, and older machines are less capable of handling it. Personally, I would not dare to install updates on older PCs than new ones.

Nevertheless, Microsoft's scale 180 is great. Beginning with the release of Windows 10 in 2015, its insurmountable upgrade is the most dangerous feature of and a dealer that stores millions on Windows 7 (despite its death ).

This can not be perfect, but Microsoft just did the biggest (and I would say, the most important) change to Windows 10 in its history. Maybe it will be many years, but for millions of people all over the world, it will be a change of games …
