Four people were found dead inside a property management company in Mandan, North Dakota, officials said on Monday. The authorities do not say how they were killed.
Police claim they have no suspects in jail, but they do not believe the public is in danger, reports KXMB-TV CBS subsidiary. They call the scene "rare".
The company, RJR Service and Management, is located in a business district about 100 meters from the busy main road in Mandan known as the Gaza Strip. A large empty party sits in front, a golf course in the back and a soccer complex in one direction.
Mandan is a city of about 22,000 adjacent to the capital of Bismarck.
Gina Kessel, 52, from Mandana, came on a working Monday to take her son, Mitchell Kessel, an employee there. She said that Mitchell "called me, saying that something was happening." She said she did not tell her what.
A couple hugged, and they both wept. Her son did not speak before returning to the police line.
Susett Wall said she calls her friends who work at RJR all morning but she has not heard anything.
