Jessica Simpson confronts her childhood abuser in detail, sending her a copy of the Open Book memoir

Jessica Simpson reveals more about the abuse she experienced as a child and how her recent recollection of The Open Book helped lead her to forgiveness.

The 40-year-old singer published her autobiography on February 4. In it, she first publicly revealed that she was being abused by the daughter of a family friend. The abuse began when she was 6 years old and she shared a bed with her abuser during family home visits.

The mother of three appeared in the podcast Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt’s “Gift of Forgiveness” to explain the steps she has taken in recent years to overcome child trauma. She also admitted that she had recently sent a copy of the memoir to her abuser.

“I’d say I ran into her about eight years ago,” Simpson explained. “I went to her and I just said, ‘I know, you know what’s going on, and I know you’ve been abused,’ because she’s been abused by the older guys. Basically, he’s always been there and in the house. He never touched me, but he would abuse her, and then she would come to me and do things to me. There were so many ways I felt bad for her, and I let abuse happen. “

Simpson recalled telling the girl that she knew she had “a lot to deal with” and urging her that she “probably needs to talk to someone.”

The fashion designer at the time promised that he no longer wanted to “live in denial” of what had happened. It was also at a time when she was divorcing Nick Leichi and was “searching for the soul.”

“I was in the very place where I was unmarried, and I was exploring myself along the way, and I knew I couldn’t move forward without letting her know,” Simpson recalled.

The singer of “Invincible” said that although her abuser continued to live, she decided to send her a copy of the memoir.

“I even sent her a book, and I told her I hoped it would bring healing,” Simpson said.

Chris Pratt’s wife’s podcast is a platform where she greets guests to discuss their life stories based on forgiveness. In the episode, Simpson repeated some of the details she revealed in the book, such as that six years after she began, she was cleaning up bullying her parents.

“Immediately after that, they took action, and I never had to go back,” Simpson told Schwarzenegger Pratt.

Also in the “Open Book” Simpson admitted that she first coped with the injury, turning to alcohol and pills.

She said her rock bottom came in November 2017, when she finally confessed to friends that she needed help.

“I need to stop. Something needs to stop. And if alcohol does that, and it makes the situation worse, then I quit, ”Simpson recalled.
