The Israeli Beresheet spacecraft will soon fly off the Earth, heading for the rocky surface of the moon. Prof. Oded Aharonson of the Department of Earth Sciences and Science Planets of the Weizmann Institute will lead a team that will track the sequence of landing capsules on the moon and analyze the rocks there
The magnetic field of the Moon will be measured – both before and during the land of spacecraft – through a detailed analysis of rocks. "The main scientific goal will be to measure the magnetic field of the moon. This will help us understand its source, "Aharonson said.

Initially, the core of the Moon was very hot, and this energy led to the fact that on the surface subject to magnetization, there were rocks. Nevertheless, the core of the Moon gave birth to a much weaker magnetic force, leaving some rocks or areas with oscillatory velocities of magnetism
"If we can measure the magnetism of these rocks, we can begin to understand how and when this magnetism arose," Aaronson explained
Some Beresheet devices will be used to measure the magnetic field of ancient volcanic rocks to check if their intensity is equal to the intensity of the proposed measurements. It can shed light on when such a field was active and when it ceased to be active.
Additional measurements will also be made to analyze the magnetic field of the craters of the moon. This can directly lead to magnetism before the bombardment of the Moon with asteroids, to the possible magnetic material, or to the remains of the asteroids.
The device first measures the magnetic field of the spacecraft and, as it rotates around the moon, will try to distinguish the surface area. It lasts about 15 minutes, the sequence of landing will indicate a change in the frequency of magnetism when the spacecraft approaches the surface.
SpaceIL and Israel Aerospace Industries collaborate with NASA and the Weizmann Institute of Science to improve tracking and communication with the module. The exact landing site was selected by the international team of Aharonson and will provide a smooth landing of the spacecraft.
In addition, the complex arrangement of mirrors that will light a laser beam, indicating its location, using the NASA Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter orbiter, will be on board. This will help the team determine Beresheet's precise position.
