How to watch today’s antitrust hearing with Cook, Bezos, Pihai, Zuckerberg

The heads of several of the largest technology companies in the United States are heading to Congress to testify before the Antimonopoly Judicial Committee on Wednesday at 9 a.m. / noon. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pihai and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg are scheduled to speak.

There were hearings postponed for two days so that Washington can mourn John Lewis, a Democrat and civil rights leader who died of pancreatic cancer on July 17.

During the hearings, the subcommittee is “constantly investigating competition in the digital market.”

; All companies have significant influence in their markets, and each is reportedly facing an investigation by the Ministry of Justice or a coalition of state attorneys.

“Since June last year, the subcommittee has been investigating the dominance of a small number of digital platforms and the adequacy of existing antitrust and law enforcement laws,” said Derrold Nadler, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and David Tsitsilin, chairman of the antitrust committee.

“Given the central role that these corporations play in the lives of the American people, it is very important that their leaders be closest. As we have said from the beginning, their testimony is important to complete this investigation.”

All four leaders began putting forward their antitrust protests on Tuesday night, each of which published its opening statement. You can read the introductory statements here.
