British singer George Smith shared a new song called “By any means”. The track is the lead single from the upcoming Roc Nation Repression The project is a collection of songs curated by the label, the proceeds of which will go to fund organizations that support victims of police brutality, hate crimes and other violations of civil rights. “The inspiration behind the Any Means program really came from going to the Black Lives Matter protest and leaving thinking what I can do to continue this conversation?” Smith said about her new song in a press release. “It’s not just a social media post, her life.”;
The press release also states that Repression was drafted in order to approach the issues of social justice and income. The project’s charitable partners are: Collecting Justice, the NACDL Criminal Justice Foundation, the Equal Justice Initiative Mission and the Cop Accountability Project.
George Smith has released her debut album Lost and found in 2018. Last year, she contacted Burna Boy for “Be Honest.” In May, she wrote a song for Damien Chazelle’s new Netflix series Eddie.
