The rally, aimed at promoting freedom of speech and condemning heavy technological censorship, turned ugly on Saturday in San Francisco when hundreds of alleged Antifa counter-protesters appeared, insulted and attacked protesters, one of whom had no teeth.
The conservative group Save America organized an event to protest Twitter, which it claims censors freedom of speech. They planned to gather in UN Square before moving the protest to Twitter headquarters a few blocks away. But the event quickly escalated into a screaming match and violence as hundreds of counter-protesters stormed the scene.

The video shows one of the protesters hitting Philip Anderson, the organizer of the event, knocking out one of his teeth.
Anderson posted photos of the consequences on social media and said that he was attacked by Antifa.

“This is what happens when you lose your freedom of speech,” Anderson said as the crowd threw objects at him. “That’s what’s happening, America. That’s what our country is becoming.”
The event was canceled before it really started.
Another protester, who was wearing a Trump 2020 shirt, was attacked by a counter-protester at one point.
The San Francisco Police Department did not respond to a request for comment on Saturday.
Social media companies have recently come under fire for alleged censorship. For example, last week Twitter sent a warning on a tweet from the president who compared the coronavirus to the flu, while Facebook deleted the post altogether.
