Dr Anthony Fauci says the coronavirus pandemic would have to become “very, very bad” before it advocates a national blockade. Foci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a leading voice in the pandemic, is asking Dr. John LaPuck to report on the next issue of “60 Minutes,” Sunday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m., ET / PT on CBS.
An excerpt of this interview was broadcast on CBS Evening News with Nora O̵7;Donnell on Friday night.
“How badly could that lead to you advocating a national blockade?” Lapuk asked Foss in the clip.
“They would have to be very, very bad,” Foci said. “First of all, the country is tired of restrictions. So we want to take health care measures not to hinder the opening of the economy, but to be a reliable gateway to open the economy. So instead of having the opposition: to open the economy [to] get the job back or close. No. Put “close” and say, “We will use health care to help us get to where we want to go safely.”
