The health department is currently investigating.
The video, posted on social media, shows a huge crowd of people gathered in front of the stage, had little room among themselves.
The charity concert in Southampton over the weekend was scheduled as an entrance for 500 cars and about 2,000 people.
“We take it very seriously,” Cuomo said. He added that both the city and the village of Southampton are now open to criminal offenses.
The health commissioner demanded that the city report on what exactly happened and why the permit was issued as part of the investigation.
The following is a letter from the New York State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Howard Zucker:
I̵7;m sure you know that New York State has been in a state of emergency since March 7, 2020 due to the prevalence of COVID-19. I know that you are aware of the many efforts that this state has made together with many local governments to combat this. The governor’s executive orders require social exclusion, as well as restrictions on business and other activities, for example, it is prohibited to hold insignificant meetings exceeding fifty people to comply with Executive Order 202.53 until August 20, 2020.
As Commissioner for Health, I have also issued a number of medical prescriptions and emergency orders to protect public health and reduce the spread of COVID-19.
In this regard, I am very concerned about the news of the “arrival” concert, which took place in your city last weekend, which apparently involved thousands of people who are in the immediate vicinity, outside their vehicles, VIP-area, where there was no claim to the vehicle, and generally did not follow social distance guidelines. I am confused about how the town of Southampton could issue a permit for such an event, as far as they thought it was legal and not an obvious threat to health.
Please let me know within 24 hours of the following:
– Did the city issue a permit for the concert?
– If the permit was issued, how did the permit comply with the current state norms and laws regarding COVID-19?
– If a permit was issued, what security did you plan at the concert?
– What city officials were at the concert and why was it allowed to continue when it turned out that the violations were common?
Please note that all answers to these questions are a submission to the State Department conducting the investigation, and any submission will be considered an affidavit.
