Best Buy plans to close Thanksgiving as the retailer focuses on meeting customer demand for the upcoming holiday shopping season.
The electronics and appliance store follows rival leaders Target and Walmart, who have also announced they will be watching the holiday.
“We can all agree that so far 2020 has turned out differently than we could have expected,” the company said in a statement on Tuesday. “And now the holiday season at Best Buy, including Thanksgiving, will also look different.”;

The company has said it will improve the way it executes orders, from offering more convenient pickup options in its stores to making sure BestBuy.com orders arrive at the right time. Best Buy will also offer “some of the hottest deals of the season earlier than ever to make it even easier for our customers to check out their gift lists.”
Meanwhile, Best Buy continues to take steps to limit the spread of coronavirus.
The company began offering a banned store because some stores were closed during the pandemic. As stores began to open with limited capacity, the retailer applied social distancing measures and required all customers to wear masks while working in the store.
Although stores will be closed on Thanksgiving, customers can shop online at BestBuy.com and through the Best Buy app.
“Although this holiday season can certainly look different, we are ready to be there again for our customers, as, when and where we need them, in the most demanding time of year,” the company added.

According to the company, the largest areas of sales growth were in the categories of computers, home appliances and tablets.
