A young Kansas kid who was born with a rare condition, has become an inspiration all over the world. The video, which millions now see, captured the moments when Roman Dinkel's 2-year-old challenged and left for the first time. He also had hydrocephalus, an additional fluid around the brain. He had two operations on the brain before his first birthday, and one on his spine before he was even born. Each case is different, but spina bifida affects every part of life.
Since CBS News first appealed to their parents, Whitney and Adam Dinkel, Roman not just goes, but runs. He just had to go to Disney. But for Whitney and Adam Dinkel, who also have two older children, breakthroughs are surrounded by constant issues.
"When he gets a headache or something, we have to take it seriously. We can not just be like," Oh, you're fine, "said Whitney. Check the boxes and look like" Is this a normal child? Is this a thing with hydrocephalus? Or this is the thing of the spinal bifida, "said Adam, the forest."
"You just learned to live in the woods," she added.
Their page on Facebook allows people around the world to learn more about spina bifida as they share Roman travel and messages.
For any person, this world should look like, – said Adam.
