BLOOMINGTON, IN Indiana (AP) – Health workers are investigating two confirmed mumps in Indiana State University, Bloomington. and Health Monroe County Health Officers
A MA spokesman said that two students who were adjacent to the room in an apartment outside the campus were infected with the disease. The school issued a counseling note that Health Workers are working to identify those who may have been in close contact with students.
The pox is contagious and spreads through coughing and sneezing. Common symptoms are fever, headache and painfully scaly glands that can cause loose cheeks. Most people recover in a few weeks.
A mumps vaccine is part of the usual baby shots.
